After a wonderful gala at the Beverly Hills Hilton the night before, we were serenaded by the USC Band (We asked for the Stanford Band -- but our LA hosts assured us that the USC band is the best!) It was a special sendoff as we pulled away from the pier at 6 PM with the band onshore with a calm sea and warm breezes.

Los Angeles Departure

Glad you made it out to sea. We watched the webcams until it got too dark to see anything. We tried to wait intil they threw the lines off as you were docked "starboard side to". We did see the calm seas today as you started across the Pacific on your first full day at sea...looks a lot like it did in 1969 when I crossed it as 3rd Mate on the "MORMACLYNX".
